GDE750 – WEEK 21

Rebuilding Confidence and Reconnecting with Purpose

Week 21 was the most challenging week of the project. The shift from structured academic writing into open ended design work created a sense of uncertainty that affected my confidence. I kept comparing my early experiments to the expressive work of designers I had researched and felt that my outcomes lacked depth, energy or cultural weight.

I questioned whether the project was strong enough and whether I had misjudged the direction entirely.

However, stepping back and revisiting the methodology helped re centre me. I reminded myself that the design phase is meant to be iterative and that expressive work often emerges through experimentation rather than immediate clarity. I also reviewed my research into Bunbury, Moross and Kitching to reassure myself that expressiveness can take many forms, not all of which appear dramatic at first glance.

By the end of the week, I regained momentum and prepared to develop the experiments further.
