First thing I want to say about this week. I have been VERY busy. As you can see, LSJ project proposals have been printed on SRA3 and cut and bound. They’re looking shiny and orange and I love them. Working with printers has been an experience that I will ‘cherish’ forever. But this is my favourite part of design, when you put time and effort in to design and you have something physical to show for it. So for the remainder of the week, I will be focusing on the promotional Artefact – the last assignment in the module. Im not too sure about this yet and I need some time to think about how I am going to make the most out of promoting LSJ.
Research Task – Entrepreneurship – Notes
- When an individual who has an idea acts on that idea, usually to disrupt the current market with a new product or service
- Entrepreneurship usually starts as a small business but the long-term vision is much greater to seek high-profits and capture market share with an innovative new idea
- the ability and readiness to develop, organise and run a business enterprise, along with any of its uncertainties in order to make a profit.
- The most prominent example of entrepreneurship is the starting of a new business
- Design entrepreneurship is about producing and marketing the intellectual properties of a viable concept in terms of assuming risks, financing and managing.
Creative entrepreneurship
- Involves bringing some sort of creative talent, or skill into the marketplace, putting a value on it and using it to solve a problem.
- Through continued work, up-skilling, growth in visibility and demand from clients, the aim is to grow that value over time.
- To practice your craft for yourself or others and not make money from it, makes your a creative hobbyist not a creative entrepreneur.
- Creative entrepreneurship inspires more creativity
- you don’t become a creative entrepreneur by being 50% creative 50% entrepreneur. You become a creative entrepreneur through 100% creativity, 100% entrepreneur.
