I have been starting to contemplate this brief. This brief feels very corporate and business heavy, which is something that I am not 100% sure I am comfortable with purely because I have 0 experience working in business related environments. As I have said before, I have a constant discomfort feeling for things that I don’t know about. SO….. you can imagine how I am feeling right about now! However, I have also said that I am always open to new things – So lets have a stab at this thing!
Research Task –
Reflect on a range of studios, individual practitioners, businesses and brands that inspire you. Consider on your own positioning as a designer alongside these examples.

The first studio, I decided to look into was Pentagram. These a very much a staple when discussing studios. The studio is made up of ‘Partners’ within the studio. Notable ‘Partners’ include Michael Bierut and Paula Scher. I wanted to look into this studio because I felt that the work that comes out of Pentagram is so diverse, that I could see a lot of my own styles and influences coming out of it. The styles I have pulled out include: branding, typographic and illustrative work. These are all types of works that inspire my own practice.

The second studio that I decided to look at was a Nottingham based creative agency called Rust Monkey. This is a small creative collective that is built on the goals of friendship and to create things with meaning. This small collective is built of 15 different creatives that range in a broad perspective of technical backgrounds. The main parts of the studio that i have pulled out is their branding work and their publication work. This was to give myself a bit more of perspective of how agencies present their work and how they can show a wide variety of work – without selling out and giving the viewer absolutely every part of their work.
